About the Workshop
What you will do
As a workshop participant, you will contribute to the identification of the grant challenges of learning analytics in several ways:
Before the Workshop
Fill out the pre-workshop survey (at least several weeks in advance) nominating up to five papers that you think show promise for new and/or important directions of research for the field along with short paragraphs explaining why you chose each paper.
Review the materials listed at the bottom of this webpage prior to the workshop. (Check back in the week before the workshop for the list of papers resulting from the pre-workshop survey.)
At the Workshop
Be prepared to share your idea(s) about grand challenges at the workshop and discuss the grant challenges proposed by others.
Actively participate in the identification and refinement process during the workshop.
During the General Conference
Poster Session: You may choose to be part of sharing ideas about the grand challenges with conference attendees at the workshop's poster.
Friday Keynote Panel: You may choose to be part of the presentation and discussion of the grand challenges during Friday's panel.
After the Conference
You are encouraged to participate in the open peer commentary process of the Journal of Learning Analytics in response to the opinion paper that will be created from from the grand challenges identified during the conference. This will offer you the opportunity to engage further with the workshop outcomes, extend them, and/or propose amendments.
